Kreative Kompas Engine went public on GitHub under the MIT licence on 3 September, and September turned it from a set of demos into something you can make a game with.
What landed
- Lua scripting with Garry’s Mod-style hooks and timers, hot reload and a sandbox, and a first game written only in Lua: break the targets.
- Movement on PointDown’s principles: vaulting, climbing, ledge hang and shimmy, corners and jumping off walls, and characters from asset packs retargeted onto the engine’s animations.
- Destruction that meets the rest of the world: FEMFX shards knock Jolt crates about, and ragdolls join in.
- Networking: host, join, LAN discovery, server-authoritative physics.
- Audio with synthesized impacts, occlusion and a sound visualizer for deaf and hard-of-hearing players.
- The sandbox saves levels and shows thumbnails of your asset packs.
- A starter template and tutorials, this website and the documentation.
